Hand Made Teddy Bear - The "Doohoma Bear" Story

Doohoma Bear : Why the name "Doohoma Bear" ?. I live beside Doohoma , located in a very remote part of North Mayo , with the wild and every changing North Atlantic on one side and Ballycroy National Park on the other. This ever changing mystical landscape is the inspiration for all my hand made pieces.
Unique Bear Each Doohoma Bear starts with a hand drawn design, then I cut out the templates and hand cut the fleece body fabric . After that I stuff the body by hand , carefully pushing the stuffing into all parts , so you don't get voids or areas in the body that go 'soft' later and cause the bear to 'collapse' . I also stuff my bears with 'real beans' to give the body a little extra 'feel' .
Hand Decorated All my bears are then hand decorated using accessories that inspire me. The bears pictured have a real metal bell around their neck , a real wooden heart attached to their wrist and each bear comes its own unique 'scrapbooking' style label including lace decoration . Most importantly, each bear comes with its own unique number , making each bear collectible.
